The idea that podcasts were always meant to be "audio only" is just not true.

Hard technical problems don't necessarily translate into profitable businesses.
"People sometimes mistake hard problems (in the computer science sense) for valuable problems(in the business sense)."

...and just like that - @transistor wins this one đ
All of the HLS episodes sent to Apple Podcasts are _also_ in the corresponding RSS feeds using podcast:alternateEnclosure for both of these @stephenrobles shows

Apple Podcasts now supports HLS video streaming (iOS 26.4, out today).
Here's @mijustin's demo (featuring podcasts by @stephenrobles

We also support HLS streaming in `alternateEnclosure` tag.

@mijustin Funnily enough, I *can't* listen to an audio podcast for the life of me, but I will hapilly sit in front of my laptop watching video podcasts for *hours*.
Something about being forced to completely engage with it, while when listening to audio, I just do something else and don't focus on it.
I've started posting some of my candid observations about the podcast ecosystem here:
The Digg reboot has failed. (Although they're regrouping to try again)
Building anything social in 2026 is hard because sophisticated AI bots quickly overwhelm the site with fake posts.
Looks like Apple have been busy adding more partners to Apple's new video experience, coming soon. Congrats @alberto and @mijustin among others.
Partners are now: Acast, Art19, Omny Studio, Simplecast, Transistor, Audiomeans, PodBean, Captivate, RSS and Podigee.
That's essentially all the big hosts covered now, excepting Spotify for Creators and Megaphone (28.7%), Spreaker (13.8%), Buzzsprout (7.2%) and Libsyn (2.7%). (Shares are share of episodes published in Feb, from Livewire).
Today, @mijustin was on the Pod the North to talk about Podcasting 2.0, RSS, Podcast Standards Project, HLS video, and more!
