Happy ninth Mastodon Won't Survive Day to all who celebrate!

I can't overstate this. NASA's use of pounds and cubic feet in its outreach efforts does not come across to science-literate people, inside or outside the US, as a sign that the country is a badass superpower that can do what it likes and ignore everyone else.
Instead it suggests that the US is a provincial nation of dungaree-wearing banjo players.
The much looked for blue marble photos from #Artemis are of course impressive + beautiful but on the other hand I've always loved this feed from Europe's other space agency.

You'll likely catch this image a million times in your various feeds: Earth as seen by Reid Wiseman from Artemis II en-route to the Moon.
My first thought? That's *really* noisy 🧐
But then I realised – it's the *nightside* of Earth, illuminated by the almost full Moon, not the Sun 🌕
The bright limb at lower-right is where the dayside starts, & the fact that you can see aurorae, airglow, & cities in Europe, Africa, & S & N America also gives the game away.
Cool.
Tube.
