Amazing news! Danish Crown can't simply claim to produce "climate-controlled pork" without backing this up. “Profiting from climate promises must be backed with legitimate climate action.” Proud to support #Danish #Vegetarian society - https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/mar/01/danish-firm-climate-controlled-pork-claim-misleading-court-rules
Danish firm’s ‘climate-controlled pork’ claim misleading, court rules

Campaigners say decision against Danish Crown, Europe’s largest pork producer, sends resounding message

Remember that Russian RT add from 2021, showing a starving European family in a cold and dark home by Christmas 2023?

Yeah. That aged like milk.

Today was ... interesting. If you followed me for the past months over on the shitbird site, you might have seen a bunch of angry German words, lots of graphs, and the occassional news paper, radio, or TV snippet with yours truely. Let me explain.

In Austria, inflation is way above the EU average. There's no end in sight. This is especially true for basic needs like energy and food.

Our government stated in May that they'd build a food price database together with the big grocery chains. But..

More wind -> lower prices
More wind turbines -> also lower prices (generally speaking)

For perspective, here's the same chart showing written Danish in general (based on a 1970 article).

Another fun fact: We Danes type about 60% of our language using the left hand side of a qwerty keyboard - but when writing names, it's about 50-50...

Which letters are most common in Danish surnames?

Turns out, when writing Danish names (weighed by how many people are called each name), on in every 8 letters is an "e".

... with the caveat that this dataset excludes about 300,000 Danes whose name contains 'Æ', 'Ø', or 'Å'.

Data science, yearh!

confession: Am I the only one who often asks ChatGPT for coding advice - but always try and make my problem sound more generic/general, because I fear it judges me, when I say I can't do simple stuff in R? #Askingforafriend
Jeg er her for at tygge tyggegummi og promovere min kones bog... og jeg er løbet helt tør for tyggegummi.

Never forget: In 2014, the cost of hosting #Europvision in Copenhagen spiraled out of control, ending up costing 15 million EUR, instead of the budgeted 4.5 million EUR.

The official inquiry report, trying to explain how it was possible to blow the budget by 220%, included this gem as its first chart. Headline "project complexity", and the Y-axis is "challenges".

Well, that explains it, I guess 🤷‍♂️

Environmentalist twitter users have quit the platform twice as often as 'regular' policy wonks since the Elon takeover.

Research confirming my gut-feeling. User experience on the app formerly known as #Twitter have deteriorated. Fast.

I, at least, felt an increasingly hostile and confrontational tone. So I quit around Christmas. Turns out I wasn't alone.
