Body's feeling good this morning after a light day in the gym yesterday. Was a good call to take a deload week this week.

I will start doing these every 2-3 months from now on. After all, age 40 is on the horizon and I can't go 100% all the time. Still feel like I have catching up to do as I didn't start this fitness journey til 3 years ago. I probably am too late to get in the best shape possible, but I can get in decent shape and good health.

Ohhhh boy. Calling it now. Time for a psychological deload week this week. Light stretching, mobility, and lifting 50%-65% of what I was doing last week for everything.

I'm learning that body and mind are connected so if I am stressed out, going heavy in the gym will make it *worse*. Shocker.

I have no idea what kind of tree this is but I enjoyed seeing the cool dangly things. Anyone who wants to ID it, go ahead. I'm in Eastern North America if that helps.

I did leg day, then went to a metal show. No mosh pit. But still was fine to stand around for 2+ hours. No lower back pain, slightly sore feet due to my shoes.

In the gym, hitting PRs on stiff leg deadlifts which I'm still linearly progressing on as they're new. Front squats are going up, not at all-time PR levels yet. May swap leg extensions out for single-leg work but will give it a month or so.

Oh and I stuck to my no-buy commitment and didn't get any merch at the show.

New IEA report confirms what we've been yelling about: this isn't a normal digital industry. It is a fossil-fuelled, high-polluting heavy industry producing socially corrosive products at massive climate cost.

Had a nice chill day today. I had baked beans for breakfast and sprouts at lunch. Spent the rest of the day posting on Mastodon.

I believe the kids call it tootmaxxing.

Datacenter power use is hard to think about in gigawatts. It's hard to visualize a gigawatt.

Let's look at datacenters in units of Ontario power use. Right now electricity demand is in the 14-16 gigawatt range.

Kevin O'Leary's slop tank proposed for Alberta (7.5 GW) would use a monstrous one half Ontario's worth of power.

I chatted with some gym regulars the other day. I almost never do that, as the gym is my place to do my sets, set a timer, repeat, go home. Default for me is to ignore everyone, only ask for a spotter. Glad I got out of my comfort zone. They were friendly!

The tunnel-boring machine has started digging the extension of #Montreal β€˜s Blue Line. Like all TBMs, it has a name.

β€œLisette,” after Lisette St-Onge, the first female operator of a Montreal mΓ©tro train.
