This would have been the 57th birthday of Vanessa Marquez. She was a dear friend and I still miss her terribly. Many know her as a talented, beautiful actress who starred on the classic movie Stand and and Deliver and the hit TV show ER. Her friends knew her as an intelligent, funny, loving, and compassionate woman who truly cared for other people. While I will always miss her, I will also always be thankful to have known her.
Happy Juneteenth

Today in 1993 the movie Twenty Bucks premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The movie follows a $20 bill as it passed from person to person Vanessa Marquez played Melanie, the girlfriend of a boy who wants to use the $20 to buy wine for their dinner.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luther King Jr.
Remember Martin Luther King Day.
My beloved Vanessa Marquez was born today in 1968. Words can't adequately describe what she meant to me. We had so much in common, fromclassic movies and TV to a love of Star Wars and Star Trek. She might have been a famous actor, but for me she will always the one woman I love more than any other.
Whether you are observing Remembrance Day in the Commonwealth or Veteran's Day in the United States, please remember those who have served.
Today it has been six years since my dearest Vanessa Marquez died. She was an actress best known for the classic movie Stand and Deliver and the hit TV show ER, but for me she was my dearest friend whom I deeply loved. I miss her so much it is palpable. #VanessaMarquez
