OK, so the keynote "Postgres 19 Hackers Panel: What’s In, What’s Out, & What’s Next" that Heikki Linnakangas, Thomas Munro, Melanie Plageman and I presented at POSETTE: An Event for Postgres has now been published on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw4WKeoxKq4

I think it turned out quite okay.

There's still some conference talks to go! Have a look at https://posetteconf.com/2026/schedule/

Back from @pgconfdev, full of ideas! 🤗 Great to share our work on Python/PostgreSQL communication with core hackers and imagine how the protocol could evolve: lots of work ahead! 💪 If you'd like to get involved, please consider supporting Psycopg 💛 Link in comments! #pgconfdev #PostgreSQL #Python #Psycopg #libpq #OpenSource #PythonDeveloper #PostgreSQLCommunity #DevConference

I don’t speak for anyone in the rust-lang project but I recognize what’s happening from my experience with open source

There are many difficult ethical and operational decisions to make, and a small number of people who actually do that work. Often compromised by messy realities

Every now and then an issue escapes containment, and then a flood of people who have never, and will never, contribute, but are possessed of absolute ethical certainty, will conspire to make your life hell

The #Postgres open source project is 30 this year. To mark the occasion, we're preparing a slideshow with photos from the past and present of the project - events, funny and interesting photos. We plan to present it at pgconfd.dev in Vancouver (~1 month from now), and then also publish it on the web.

If you have taken such photos, or if you know where we could find them, we'd like to know! Feel free to ping me here, shoot me an e-mail, or something.

'Separate your identity from your projects. Find people who see you when you're not shipping. Get a doctor who understands that "I've been incredibly productive lately" is sometimes a symptom, not a success story. Build a life that doesn't depend on the community's approval to feel real.'

I am very glad to hear that Kenneth is doing better now, and have so much respect for his decision to write this post. In the end, people are always more important than code - always.

Open Source Gave Me Everything Until I Had Nothing Left to Give

I thought I was having a spiritual awakening. I was having a psychiatric emergency. I was at a tech conference in Sweden when it started. I hadn't slept in...

PGConf.dev 2026 schedule is live! We have a packed program this year. And we'll continue to add Community Discussion Sessions to Tuesday through April. https://2026.pgconf.dev/schedule/wednesday

We’re doing a Poster Session again this year at PGConf.dev. It’s fun to make and share visual representations of your work — and also when else do you get to cosplay as an academic?

In the early days of personal computing CPU bugs were so rare as to be newsworthy. The infamous Pentium FDIV bug is remembered by many, and even earlier CPUs had their own issues (the 6502 comes to mind). Nowadays they've become so common that I encounter them routinely while triaging crash reports sent from Firefox users. Given the nature of CPUs you might wonder how these bugs arise, how they manifest and what can and can't be done about them. 🧵 1/31

Listen to him! He knows what he’s talking about!

PGConf.dev is where Postgres hackers and ecosystem builders come to share real work and build together.

CFP closes Jan 16.
