@jank0 Revising my position on this after hearing your explanation on TWiT. I’m glad that Meta didn’t pull the rug on the users who did find Horizon Worlds valuable for the purposes you reported. It seems like VR Chat would have been a better venue for them, but at least Meta didn’t destroy people’s creations (for now).

@rubenerd You’re going to love it. I bought a nearly perfect X1 Carbon Gen 9 (32GB, matte) for US$360 from eBay last July with the goal of “anything other than Windows” on it. Whichever just installed and ran Cinnamon would be the winner. I tried FreeBSD 15.0 first (I think it was an RC then) but it had issues. I tried Linux Mint and… it worked great. I’ve been waiting for 15.x to mature and smooth out so I can try it again. Keep us posted on your experience!

@jzb @yayaver “Pick a good album”…. Which means if you’re all about the listening experience, pick something that was well-recorded and mixed for human ears… not all compressed for maximum loudness, AM radio, ear buds, or tiny phone speakers. Make sure the source is high-resolution and full bandwidth if you’re streaming it. GIGO (garbage in, garbage out) applies to sound recording and playback, too.
