So one thing about the US is that when anybody proposed socializing retirement and health care we get ghouls coming out of the woodwork to ask in bad faith how we'd pay for something so extravagant (that everybody else already has).
In the US, if you have benefits you get a sort of shared-cost system where some money goes to socialized benefits and some to private. Going full social just means you and your employer pay into the social pool instead of the private pool and then EVERYBODY gets it.
