"Trillian did a little research in the ship's copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It had some advice to offer on drunkenness. 'Go to it,' it said, 'and good luck.'" #hitchhikersguidetothegalaxy #bali #vacation
In 2018 (if not 2017) I bought my favourite pair of shoes (on the left), the #Camper Peu. Those shoes have been around the world multiple times, explored many cities and walked many kilometers. On the right is my new pair I got this weekend. I'm looking forward to the journey with them. Buy well made shoes that you love, you won't regret it.
Poilievre, don't worry about it man, #Canada doesn't care if you're gay. Your base may care quite a bit, but the majority of us just want you to be you. #canpoli #gaypride
I don't feel good about broad-brushing like this, but the whole #nodejs ecosystem is far beyond out-of-control at this point. It's almost comical. `apt install npm` results in 702MB of dependencies. #eyerollsohard

After reading the #EFF post today on Mastodon, Bluesky, and Threads I was reflecting on my transition from #Twitter to #Mastodon. Here's a few reasons I am still so happy about this socialport: 1) On Twitter, I always felt like I was so far behind and had to catch up (a negative feeling), whereas on Mastodon their small intentional design decision of hiding a good chunk of what I've missed since last time behind "Load missing posts" leaves me able to consume content when I can without the negative feelings associated with being so behind. Does that mean I'm less addicted to it? Yes! Is that okay? Absolutely! 2) The intentions of people in my community feel more authentic. The information being posted feels less drama "look at me, read my stuff, I'm important" desperate and more "here's a fact/thought, engage if you want" matter of fact. I appreciate this.

No regrets on my socialport. I'm glad to be here #fediverse.

Grrreeeaaatttt... This is the result of me posting a positive, well written, 5 star review on #Google Maps. Google, I know your algorithms find it hard to believe it's possible to get good technical support from an ISP, but I promise this really happened. #googlemaps
"All agile does is turn 5 minute tasks into one year projects with a plan." made me laugh this morning. While I don't agree wholeheartedly with the author, turning a 5 minute task into a "project" really resonated with me. If you want a meandering journey where everyone (clients, developers, high and low performers) are on the same step, #agile is it. Yes, this can be painfully slow and ultimately annoying for ambitious high performers. I have seen agile both help and hinder cohesion as well. Like anything, sometimes it's done well, sometimes not.
