@grimalkina I don’t understand “who cares about this” in science. Who cares about galaxies out there (not like we’re going there), who cares about blisters on cows (gross), who cares about invisible animals on our hand (I don’t see anything)

And those examples are bad because if I want to do science on something “pointless” so what! Curiosity is intrinsically worthwhile! If you insist on assigning value to it, you have to wait until it’s exhausted, bc you can’t know where it leads a priori

@grimalkina I think some people don’t see masks as an object with utility, instead as fashion/political statement. “Why are you using a calculator? when are you going to stop?” 1. because I need to add things and suck at math 2. when I stop needing to adding things

Personally, I rarely wear a mask and don’t have health concerns, but I still carry one everywhere because they are useful, I’m tired of being stuck next to someone hacking their lungs out, and public health doesn’t exist here anymore
