🚨 ALERT 🚨 - ALL you amazing people who VOLUNTEERED for @bsidesmelbourne

All selected volunteers have now been notified. Over 100 people wrote in, an amazing result, and totally consistent with our BSides Melbourne community vibe. But we have uniquely stuffed up. In our excitement to release this year’s form, we managed to delete the all-important “email field” to communicate with each of you personally. We apologise for that.

If you haven’t had a call or LinkedIn (or carrier pigeon!) message from us, then we regret to say that you haven’t selected as a volunteer. It also means that your best chance to attend BSides Melbourne 2026 is to buy a ticket when they go on sale this Friday 27 March at 12 noon AEDT.

We apologise again for this mistake, and hope to see you at our event.

Hey everyone, we've sent out our "What happens in the next few days" email. But if you haven't seen it, double check your ticket, we're happy to update email addresses as we've had a few typos! DM us if you didn't get the email with Ticket Number and email address.

Droppy & The Sleuth

Call for Locks!

Our lock-picking crew are having some shipping dramas and may not have the usual gear in Brisbane in time for the workshops on Saturday!

If anyone is a member of a lock lock-sport club that may be able to come along with some gear and help out the crew (who are arriving with prizes and enthusiasm!) please reach out to us!

Droppy & The Sleuth

It's nearly that time, and the Sleuth are running around with final steps. It takes a lot of people to get a con going. Droppy wanted to say "Sleuth, we love you, thank you so much". We make this happen through many volunteers that give up their personal time, and we can't do it without them. 🥰 👏 🙌
What do you do when you find yourself the new owner of Kubernetes config during a pentest? Find out the answer, and more with Finn Foulds-Cook during his talk on Saturday - "Help I got a k8s config?"
You've heard about some of our speakers, and we're stoked to announce another: Simeon Miteff joins us with "Phoning it in: active scam campaign tracking with a small-scale SMS honeypot". Join the journey through hobby honeypot to a "telecom telescope".

Thursday 19th March 2026, you're drinking and eating some nibbles. You're at an undisclosed bar, the location of which arrived by email. You're talking to someone that could very well be your friend two days later. If that's you in the future, it's because you signed up to Our Women of CrikeyCon event. We throw this together so that attendees, friends, and the wider community get the chance to meet before CrikeyCon to promote diversity and inclusion.

CrikeyCon 11

Brisbane hacker conference, run by the community for the community.

Come join Alex Tilley on stage as we're brought through lived experiences in "Real world management in the world of Bad Days". We're stoked to hear this one as no one wants to deal with, but everyone should be prepped to get through, a massively bad day.
