Just finished Mixtape. It’s one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. The fact that it was lightly interactive is an added bonus. It really demonstrates how effectively a video game can be used as an artistic storytelling medium far more effectively than just film alone.

They captured the late 80s / early 90s vibe so well, and the soundtrack was perfectly curated.

I wonder if this is going to spark a John Hughes style era where video games stop making original scores and instead carefully license their soundtracks from existing bands. Man that would be cool.

Holy crap! As I was driving back to work from surfing today I saw no fewer than 7 SDPD SUVs flying down the 56 west, lights and sirens on. Like, faster than I've ever seen a squad car go. I thought maybe there was a car chase.

Turns out, two teenage dipsh*ts tried to shoot up the Islamic Center off Balboa Ave and murdered 3 people. Then they took pot shots at a landscaper, before killing themselves in their truck. Cops found them dead in their cars. Given the time it took for cops to arrive, this probably could've been worse. I guess we should be glad they targeted themselves rather than continuing to shoot at innocents, but still it's such a tragedy.

I'm surprised I didn't see this on Mastodon. An Italian post tagged #sandiego and I had to translate it to figure out what happened, then go search for it in English.
