The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, CNN and Associated Press have all posted guides to using Mastodon, which in turn have been syndicated by numerous local news outlets. That matters. We're rapidly approaching a situation where the media will refer to things happening "on Mastodon" the way they referred to Twitter in, say, 2013.

I Speak Fluent ‘New Social Media CEO Who’s In Over Their Head’; Let Me Translate The Last Few Days Of Twitter Policy

The last few days on Twitter have been, well, chaotic, I guess? Beyond the blocking of the ElonJet account, followed by the blocking of the @JoinMastodon account, then the blocking of journalists a…

Some advice for Mastodonians who are rapidly adding followers: start building lists NOW. Friends, news, funny people, maybe frenemies you want to keep tabs on. It is a lot harder to try to go back and build your lists up from scratch once you're already following too many people to be able to keep your timeline straight. (Also to devs: a more user-friendly mechanic to mass-add people you follow to lists would be helpful)
I am slowly losing it. I beg, I plead: there is no need to do things like "Elno" and "Eloon" or El*n. Just use "Elon" so that those of us who don't want to see that can have actual, workable filters. There is no full-text search, so using "Elon" will not result in trolls being able to find your post just by putting "Elon" in the search. Mastodon searches only on hashtags This isn't Twitter. #FediTips

Anyway, here's musk literally a month ago in a literal court telling a literal judge that he was going to reduce his time at twitter and find a new CEO. This "poll" is bullshit.

The faith and practice James Nayler and other early Friends accepted was that humans were incapable of contributing to their own salvation, that this was God’s work alone, but it was freely offered to everyone through the Holy Spirit.

These convictions are reflected in the Quaker practice of unprogrammed, expectant waiting worship, in which people stop, become still, and make themselves available to God.

Elon Musk cries wolf: His decision to make Twitter flag benign links to Mastodon servers as "potentially harmful" threatens to make us all less safe. https://www.pcmag.com/opinions/elons-mastodon-vendetta-makes-us-all-less-safe
Elon's Mastodon Vendetta Makes Us All Less Safe

By flagging benign links to Mastodon servers as "potentially harmful," Twitter is making it harder to tell when a threat is real.

18 Dec 1656: James Nayler, prophet & #quaker appears for 1st time in the pillory - he is whipped 300 times, which shocked many people (BM)
I struggle with Christmas. The (perceived) requirements, the tempting commercialism, the social conventions. So I was grateful to a Friend for sharing this in #Quaker Meeting this morning.
