@europe Me too. It was actually the second word I picked that I didn’t think was a word.

What the hell was that? Last two picks I was just entering random letters!

Need to create a Facebook/Instagram account for business purposes. But it literally won’t let me. I get automatically denied and my automatic appeal is automatically and permanently denied. Time was they were scraping everyone’s address book and dragging people on to it…
I was wondering when a nuke would go on the table. He can’t hammer Iran enough to make them want to stop hurting the US with oil prices and tempting them into what would be a deeply unpopular ground war. They won’t say or do anything that allows Trump to leave and save face. And so he must eventually threaten everything. But they will not let him go. Not yet. But in the final analysis he might do anything to avoid looking weak.

@ccferrie It’s a bad state of affairs when you have to apologise for not being cynical about the kind of thing that brought routine joy to people everywhere a few decades ago.

I get it, but… its important to have some joy in life!

Not trying to have a go at the poster, but I feel this is the kind of joyless virtue mincing that drives people away from mastodon.

Good start to the day!

Being opposed morally to AI is all too often conjoined with the position that AI is snake oil and does not work. People want to cloth a moral statement like “AI is awful for humanity” in a scientific statement like “AI just produces slop code that must be reworked (and therefore reduces productivity)”. Then there are these disparaging middle statements like “AI is not intelligent/does not code it just copies and plagiarises” which is a moral statement intended to have scientific heft.

I understand the antipathy towards AI, and even the “Luddites were right”, but there are large numbers of people on here that deny AI code assistants/agents provide any value at all. I attest from experience that they can comfortably speed up work by a factor of 4 when used properly. I get “there is literally no evidence” and a block.

A weaver can see clearly that the weaving machine is quicker even if they have to redo some work. Have a stance but don’t deny reality. #ai 1/2
