it's hard for me to see my progression. it's difficult to consider myself a professional photographer. i've photographed concerts off and on for about 20 years with large gaps in-between. always photographing though--nature, street, slice of life. it's difficult to see the progress while "in it." good reminder to remember why i've started, why it's love, passion, need--a voice.
#PhotographersOfMastodonwhen ppl on the "good side of history" are dismissing those who are harmed, not just stating on a platform, but hurting ppl in their everyday lives, hurting those who are close to them, how do we actually change. the hypocrisy keeps us down.
the way we treat ppl close to us & those in our community matters.
similar to how i reevaluated the way i choose a partner, i have needed to and learned to reevaluate friendships. the nonnegotiables, past patterns, values, red flags, joy, etc. i will not accept friendships with people who don't value me and who repeatedly harm, who don't take accountability, who use jokes as weapons, who manipulate and lie, who hide behind "good deeds." i don't need friends to *entertain* me, i want connections safe enough for us all to have fun in them.
