Public terrain tiles for interactive web map visualizations

Public television broadcasters ORF from Austria and SVT from Sweden are now using Mapterhorn Global Terrain on their news websites. Great to see adoption by journalists!
Mapterhorn v0.0.8 ships 1 m terrain data for most of the United States, 2 m for parts of Canada, and 5 m for parts of Australia. The combined PMTiles size is 9.8 TiB. Explore the data at https://mapterhorn.com/viewer

Version 0.0.3 brings high-resolution data for Austria. Country-wide 10 m data is used, on top of which higher resolution data was layered: 5 m for Burgenland, 1 m or better for Salzburg, Oberösterreich, and Kärnten.

The planet size increased by 40 percent because the vertical rounding was made less aggressive to avoid some step artifacts.

Mapterhorn v0.0.2 ships smaller tiles that are optimized for size while keeping the same visual quality, missing data in Caucasus and polar regions were added, and you can now use the pmtiles cli tool to make small area extracts.
