I saw a post the other day that got me wondering. Anyone out there, especially the #selfhosting crowd, using different password managers for 2FA and passwords? Something like a 'not putting all your eggs in one basket' situation? Or too paranoid?
For the first time in a while I've changed my default browser to #vivaldibrowser in all my devices.. With all that is going on we need to focus on European alternatives.

If you're on LinkedIn and are thinking about verifying your account with them, maybe read this first. It walks through LinkedIn's privacy disclosure to identify 17 companies that may receive and process the data you submit, including name, passport photo, selfie, facial geometry, NFC data chip, national ID #, DoB, email, phone number, address, IP address, device type, MAC address, language, geolocation etc. Unsurprisingly, it seems the biggest recipients are US-based AI companies.

Hello Mastodon 👋

I'm rogi.
I have a 2014 ThinkPad. I run a blog with €5/month. Zero cloud.

I read privacy policies so you don't have to.

Last month: an AI had a 24KB psychological profile built from my conversations. Last week: my passport went through 17 US companies just to get a LinkedIn badge. Nobody mentioned that.

That's what I write about. Not paranoia, just what's actually in the documents.

I literally have no idea how Outlook's search function can be so shitty.

I'm on a mac, and it shows me emails from 2015, but won't show something from two days ago.

Outlook used to be THE BEST. Now I'm constantly frustrated. But what's the alternative?

You where all thinking it. And the answer is 'yes!'. Yes you can totally LASER engrave a banana to exfiltrate data from your secured premises. Just out of the machine the text is barely noticable. But the next morning? Clear as day.

AI Coding Assistants Secretly Copying All Code to China - Schneier on Security

There’s a new report about two AI coding assistants, used by 1.5 million developers, that are surreptitiously sending a copy of everything they ingest to China. Maybe avoid using them.
