Safari 26.1 arrives today. What does this bring developers? Many improvements to Anchor Positioning, including remembering the last successful `position-try` fallback. A refactor of how WebKit handles CSS Units, which brings relative units (`rlh`, `ic`, `cap`, `cqw`, `cqi`, `cqmin`, `cqmax`) to SVG for the first time. And many other fixes.

Context: a breaking change to how rec2020 in CSS renders, because we were previously not using the correct transfer function for display-referred colors
CSS now has a new, alpha only, relative color syntax.
alpha(from var(--mycolor) / calc(alpha * 0.6))
Result is in whatever color space the origin color is. Just the alpha is changed or overwritten.
Over the years, I’ve heard a lot of developers & other people wish that uBlock Origin was available for Safari. Now it is! Download for Safari 18.6 and Safari 26 beta.
Instagram is introducing wide gamut images with Display P3 color space (in the micro version). For now, it seems to work only with browser uploads.
If you view this post on Instagram and see the stars inside the colored squares, you are viewing the image in wide gamut!

I have noticed that Safari on macOS does not update the SDR/HDR information about the display on which it is displayed if you refresh the page.
If I set my MacBook Pro monitor to XDR the result will be "HDR true", but if I then set the monitor to a non-HDR mode like "Photography P3" and refresh the page the result is still the same. You can test here https://www.wide-gamut.com
The problem can also occur with the YouTube player.
