Whenever somebody says "but most crimes are done using illegal firearms" they're usually trying to argue against restrictions. But that's a misdirection - it's not that banning guns doesn't work, it's that they're legal and so easily accessible next door.

Er falsely claimed to gun dealers that he was buying guns for himself, only to smuggle the guns into Canada, where they were used in multiple crimes.
