In Mastodon, search visibility of your posts is opt-in. That means you have to go to "Settings" and then tick the "Include public posts in search results" checkbox if you want your posts to appear in search results. Otherwise they won't. Stupid behaviour, IMO. Mastodon is a social network. Discoverability should be opt-out, not opt-in.
