Today, I'm here to tell you that the arrival is even earlier than expected.
Every time my phone has an earthquake alert and then I don't feel anything, I get a little disappointed.
Started playing Dishonored. The media PC connected to my TV only has a hand-me-down GTX 1070 in it, but that's plenty for a game from 2012. But for some reason after like 90 minutes of gameplay, it started having a glitch where the dialog audio played too quickly, cutting each voice line short, and out of sync with the mouth movements. Dunno what that's about; it was fine at first. Hopefully it doesn't persist because that would ruin the game experience.
Oh, also, I went to the theater last night to see The Furious (2026) which was an absolute adrenaline rush of a film, just incredible nonstop action in the best way. Madcap fight choreography for almost 2 hours straight. The acting was a little iffy in places, especially in the after-dub recording for some reason, but it's a small enough feature of the movie that it doesn't substantially detract from it.
Episode 3 is the obvious outlier; I had to stop and look up who did it, because it was reminiscent of SHAFT's style with the use of on-screen text and different (more deformed/sketchy) character drawings, in a complete departure from the first two eps. I didn't hate the style in itself but it was jarringly different. But that's not the only instance. Other episodes have their own quirks, too, which is kind of neat but distracting. It's harder to keep pace with the show because it keeps changing.
I have been enjoying the Kamiina Botan anime quite a bit, despite that I didn't drink alcohol at all. But aside from being a little worried the show will create alcoholics (😅) my other reservation about it is that the difference in animation style from episode to episode is a little jarring sometimes. Not just the way the characters are drawn, but also the framing and storyboarding feel surprisingly different sometimes.
#animeI really dig how every Kamiina Botan episode has a different ending sequence that tells a little backstory for one of the characters.

Last night I got around to watching one of Carnival Phantasm bonus episodes from 2012 that I had missed when it originally came out, and unfortunately my 2026 brain is not what it once was. #67
