Our map shows how European governments are already making the switch to Matrix-based communications: https://element.io/blog/digital-sovereignty-is-built-on-an-open-standard-that-enables-federation/
Digital sovereignty is built on an open standard that enables federation

Across Europe, sovereign communications systems are already being deployed, and crucially, they don’t have to exist in isolation.

Excited to announce that the @EUCommission has updated it's follow buttons on the website footer!
What's that first platform there? Could that be #Mastodon?
And where did the link to #X go?
All the posts and comments here on Mastodon calling for this, trust me we read them!

One of the best things about #CablesOfResistance is finding so many like-minded people interested in tech, who also care deeply about the downstream effects of it

"rssyes" is a great very simple service which transforms youtube videos to the standard audio-only RSS feed, which will work in any flexible podcast app (e.g. AntennaPod)
https://rssyes.com/

As an advantage - it stores audios -> it will always work. Unfortunately, newpipe or freetube are less predictable because of google's captchas etc.

Fun fact: Codeberg was born as a direct consequence of a false DMCA takedown (those were very popular a decade ago) against the @gadgetbridge repository—an indie Android app that helps users control their own gadgets (smart wearables). If that didn't happen, we most likely wouldn't exist today.

Gadgetbridge is still hosted on Codeberg to this day and available on alternative app stores such as @fdroidorg and @IzzyOnDroidOrg.

P.S. Most browsers blocked 3rd-party cookies a few years ago, so the only way for a company to gain full access to a desktop user's data is to create its own browser. Usage of Google Chrome often correlates with the user’s technical literacy or lack thereof, as well as their privacy awareness. Alternatives include Brave and Vivaldi, which are Chromium-based but don't spy on users. Another alternative is Mozilla Firefox, which is fully open-source and preferred by many technicians (incl. me).
