Anyone know of any casual online bar/cafe place where you can just casually verbally chat with randoms, primarily to support Mandarin learners, in Mandarin? Absolutely no Discord please. Strong preference for sites/fedi, not via a closed app.

I'm speaking so little Mandarin these days I think it's atrophying out. The reading and the listening are still stronger than my English (low bar I know), and no one can write without a computer these days anyway so whateves (ok I will be picking up calligraphy again but I can do that solo).

I just don't want to lose the speaking ability more. I'm also tooting my own cat about I'm technically a native speaker and can be of use for others there. I can't really ask randoms in Chinese sites considering I doubt they'd emphasis on the using the language part, like you don't ask a shark where to get a jar of ocean water.

Looks like the CloudKit sync issue in *OS 26.4 is real (I can repro with all of my apps), and has the very distinct potential to lead to catastrophic data loss and/or sync conflicts across effectively all apps. Apps only receive changes from the cloud after being quit and relaunched.

If Apple hasn't pulled 26.4 already, it should do so immediately until there's a fixed build

Since I know almost nothing about Ruby, I'll ask the fedi hivemind for tips...

If I want to start up a Ruby REPL and import 'net/http' so that I can try one request using the latest version of the Gem, what steps should I follow? In Python I'd create a virtualenv and then use 'pip install' to install the package I want - so I assume something similar exists for Ruby. Bonus points if I can do the same thing but intentionally use an older (specific) version of the Gem.
