My Christmas cactus is starting to flower! It didn’t bother its arse last year so I’m thrilled
Diary of Paracelsus’s Rose#florespondence these are the fruits of the soapberry tree (the genus name is Sapindus). It is not a berry, but a real natural soap. The fruit contains saponin, which creates bubbles in water. But it is probably too irritating, toxic even, for direct use.
Update: after a few escape attempts the lads are happily settled and have devoured so many banana peels and tea and coffee dregs 🪱

I need to look into how to build it myself since the ready-made ones you can buy seem to be very expensive for what is essentially a plastic chest of drawers
My thoughts are turning to building a vermicompost bin again 👀
