Ok, Mastodon - I have a question I need help with.
What are some classic stories (novels, poems, anything really) set in libraries, or about books? ๐
Is there anything really famous?
Please RT to boost my reach!
Thanking you kindly.
In case you picked up on Germany's claim that they have resumed UNRWA funding, surprise, surprise, they are lying:
They have NOT resumed the full amount they suspended, and they funds they released were exclusively for UNRWA work OUTSIDE PALESTINE, in other words, that does fuck all in their favour when it comes to the question whether they are helping starve the population of Gaza.
Anti-Muslim Incidents In U.S. Break Records, According To New Report
The CAIR report points to the war in #Gaza as the primary driver behind the dramatic increase in anti-Muslim sentiment
Muslim and Palestinian Americans have faced severe backlash.
In Vermont, three Palestinian students were #shot while on a walk, an incident the stateโs attorney in Burlington called โa hateful act.โ
In Illinois, a 6-year-old Palestinian American boy was #stabbed to #death and his mother was #hospitalized in a hate crime by their landlord, who was angered over the Israel-Hamas war.
In February, a passerby attempted to rip away a Palestinian keffiyeh scarf hanging out of a car window and #stabbed a Palestinian American man.
Soโฆ Github in their wisdom has "disabled" the #xz repository.
They did this before with the "everything" JavaScript package.
Unfortunately they don't seem to realise that this HINDERS the community's ability to respond to this mess by HIDING key information such as issue trackers.
I think the heavy-handed approach executed by @github is doing more harm than good.
If they want to HELP the open-source community clean up this mess, they should restore public access to the repository.
If they instead want to HELP the person who wrote this code hide their tracksโฆ be my guest, keep it hidden.
At least declare which side you're on, because right now, it really seems like you're trying to protect the attacker not the community.
I'm giving serious thought to migrating my projects away from this service now.
When I used to write for @osnews in the early 2000s, I was a proponent of the BSD-like licenses, where a user could decide not to open source back their changes. I still believe in that freedom, but I don't believe in all people anymore: corporations now have reached total #enshittification, so now I'm a believer of the AGPL, the most extreme version of the GPL3. Everything should be as open as possible, and remain so. No exceptions.
