Three merchant ships with Indian crews fired on by US forces in Strait of Hormuz. One vessel has been sunk.
Crew dead or wounded. Oman rescuers save dozens.
Isolated northern chemist and embarrassing elderly relative.
Not to be confused with the Great and the Good.
One time magnetochemist - helped develop the CAMMAG computer package
Managed the UK National Chemical Database Service in what, in retrospect, were its halcyon days
Still tries to tinker with CrystalWorks when they let me

Here is link to the structures mentioned. They are taken from ICSD and the Crystallography Open Database and made available using CrystalWorks technology:

The "lead suboxide" from 1926 is given for both the ICSD & COD. They are interpreted as having differing space group symmetry.
I think batteries in general bear a grudge against me - the one in my mobile device just ran out...
As somebody with a magneto/coordination background I have weak knowledge of pure inorganic systems, especially involving main group elements such as lead.
Pb2O would be quite a coup. If the 1926 crystal structure is correct it it would be two coordinate Pb+1
Or possible an electride!!!

Today's #365Minerals entry is Wulfenite
"I get that a lot of people don’t actually care about the climate or Palestine, so they aren’t getting upset right now. But when you are trying to speak up for something you care more about, and find you can’t, you will wish you had stood with us.”

If a far-right government detained activists for months without trial and declared them terrorists, there would be outrage. But Palestine and climate campaigners are being treated like this in a social democracy, writes the author and columnist
