A container of multitudes & an ebullient wally. Constantly curious. Tina Belcher in her 40s. I'm OK.

@pete hah, that's great. Conversely, in our last house, we lived juuuuuust over the border from a very desirable place part of Leeds - the border was the stream at the bottom of our garden. We liked how much money it saved us being on the "wrong" side of the border - easily 50k.
@fembot we live in old farmhouses and the names have been in place since at least the 1830s (ie on the oldest maps that I can find). Our current house dates from a little later than that (1870s, when it was built as two small cottages) but there's been barns on the site since at least 1616 so presumably there was an earlier house/s here too - not sure what it was called at that point though.

@pete nope! I don't want to completely dox myself but they're the other side of the town from Belle Vue by the looks of it.

(There's a possibility the area names are an estate agent invention as they're not showing up on Google Maps.)

TIL there's an area of Shrewsbury with the same name as our house - and the adjacent area has the same name as our next door neighbours' house. Fun coincidence!
@coreyspowell I think the exposition scene on the boat was supposed to suggest that but it didn't do enough imho - yes, it would have been richer if they'd explained more about the team effort.
@keepsake thanks, great weather really makes a trip at this time of year.

Sunday, we went back to the beach at Niwbwrch/Newborough (we'd stayed nearby) for some high tide frolics - lots of excellent dogs! - then had a breathtaking drive through Snowdonia thanks to lingering mist & emerging sunshine. We walked at Capel Curig then stayed at one of our favourite campsites just south of Betws y Coed.

Today, we had breakfast and a walk at Llyn Brenig before heading home - would like to go back there again soon for bike/boat/sauna fun.

A gorgeous weekend for it!

Just back from a fab long weekend in North Wales.

Started with a wander around the Great Orme at Llandudno on Friday (tiny lambs! tiny kids! tiny balancing sheep!), then fish'n'chips (mandatory) and a night in the Conwy valley. On Saturday, we started with a walk at Rhaeadr Fawr/Aber Falls, followed by lunch in Beaumaris and a lovely evening walk at Niwbwrch/Newborough Forest & beach. It was super low tide so we got to go over to the island and watch the sunset 🤩

@clarissawam oh poor little sweetie 😔
@coreyspowell my one disappointment about the film was how much of the pre-launch science from the book was missed out. I appreciate there was a limit on what they could include but in the book, there really was a sense of all the world pulling together to make it happen, scientists from around the globe doing their small part within their specialised field. A shame that had to be dropped.
