My husband was trying to describe what he goes through with Pepper every Wednesday when he washes the bedding—how she moves from corner to corner as he puts the sheets back on—and he just sent me this photo.
This canister of salt is older than my marriage (my husband bought it before he met me, more than 25 years ago). It’s still great. I should really put some in my travel stash.

Our indoor (scaredy) cat started wanting to take walks outside our apartment a few months ago, and has gotten braver and braver (as long as no one opens their door or makes a noise) since, going farther and farther down the hall toward the elevator. Last night she flopped near the stairwell, out of sight of her own door.

Unexpectedly bright (and welcome) sun, art, and city walks during the day, work at night, and about the same amount of sleep as I normally get. If it weren’t for the migraine, I’d say my plan is working perfectly.
Tomorrow morning’s commute should put me over 10K miles on the e-bike I bought on January 22, 2022.
Earlier this morning I almost stepped on the head of a snake that was crossing the Los Gatos Creek Trail. Was just walking and thinking, not even distracted by my phone. It wasn’t moving when I spotted it with my foot in the air and leapt back; I wonder if it was thinking “if I hold still, maybe she won’t see me”? Once I jumped back it stuck out its tongue and then carried on. That thing was *long*.
