On a more stodgy social network, there was a post that really reminded me why San Francisco, warts and all, is my chosen city. Urban Alchemy is a group that employs people who have been homeless to interact with people who are homeless to keep the peace and generally improve the quality of life in the city. I see them hard at work almost every day out there. This post is from one of those workers.
This is about a program that was proposed to the state legislature, but shot down because people do not want safe places for people to do drugs. Just not doing them makes about as much sense as teaching kids abstinence to protect against AIDS.
