This is wild. A whole population's calls captured, studied, mined.

"Unit 8200 sources said the information stored in Azure amounted to a rich repository of intelligence about its population that some in the unit claimed had been used to blackmail people, place them in detention, or even justify their killing after the fact."

As a friend just suggested, perhaps one day people will speak of Microsoft & genocide, just as history 'never forgets' what IBM did.

‘A million calls an hour’: Israel relying on Microsoft cloud for expansive surveillance of Palestinians

Revealed: The Israeli military undertook an ambitious project to store a giant trove of Palestinians’ phone calls on Microsoft’s servers in Europe

Just watched the new "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" episode "Shuttle to Kenfori". I was excited to see that it adds zombies canonically to the Star Trek universe.

Why am I excited? Because I once made a game about that called "Outbreak on Hypatia".

Mechanically, it's a solitaire trick-taking, score-chasing game. Thematically, it's bridge officers trying to survive a zombie infestation.

The latest Paper Apps™ game is on Kickstarter. Inspired by the DOS games of my youth, it's a procedurally-generated notebook game where each copy is unique. Enjoy some pseudo-3D dungeon-crawling that fits right in your pocket!

Play Brilliant posted a review of my RPG, "Welcome Aboard, Captain".

They really liked it!

I was impressed by how much time they put into it. It's a solo RPG, but has rules for multiplayer, and they tested both! And they contacted me with questions about design intent and rules, so it's clear they put it through its paces.

I did not solicit the review - they contacted me cold. I comp'ed them a digital copy for the review.

Welcome Aboard, Captain! Hi-Fi Adventures for Bridge & Crew

After cozying up a couple weeks ago at the riverside bookshop with tea and friends, now I’m here to present a game-ier game, featuring spaceships, galactic exploration,…

So we had our first “4D” movie experience.

It was RIDICULOUS.

I’ve been on theme park motion simulators that haven’t jostled me around half as much. It was so extreme we couldn’t pay attention to the movie because we were laughing so hard.

In a preview we watched a character lightly slaps himself on the butt, and they *shook your chair* to reinforce this. We *lost it*.

It was a fun experience I guess but definitely not the experience the director intended.

"If generative AI could REALLY make the next GTA in 6 months with 10 staff, or write the next bestseller, or produce 10 blockbusters a day? They wouldn't be trying to sell it to YOU. They would keep it for themselves and guard it from you ferociously."

I've seen this quote without attribution a couple of times. Whoever said it, they're spot on.

Had the opportunity to do the “Curse of the Mayan Temple” escape room at Bust Out Albuquerque today.

What a great room! Strong theming, fun puzzles, and some nice surprises of both the plot variety and the “ooh ahh” variety.

We beat it in just under :30! The host said we were only two minutes shy of the record. Hoo-ah!
