We're at my wife's late grandparents' house and she found some really old letters in the attic. In one from 1952, her grandma is scolding her future husband about the tone of his last letter. She was not to mess with! :D

What I can tell you is this:

Many Ethiopian kids (myself included) grew up thinking that the words "Deutsche Welle" were part of the Amharic language.

Why? Our parents, even some of our grandparents grew up around the radio, waiting for German tax payer radio to relieve them from communist junta propaganda of the 70ies-80ies. Deutsche Welle was a source of relief in our own language from 1965 onwards, so much that it has been integrated into the Amharic language.

I hope y'all out there are taking the time for stuff you enjoy. I'm so glad I got myself that old Volkswagen T3 / Vanagon to tinker around with and improve. That project really helps keep me sane between private worries and current world events. Take care ❤️

I just read that microG in Google Custom ROMs can emulate Google SafetyNet, which is required to run my (and almost any) banking app. I might have to look into custom ROMs again! This was the only thing keeping me from switching to one.
