Paperwhites in winter surprise me every morning they’re blooming.

I am not generally a fan of this season with its coerced commerce and bad music, but this was #lovely to receive.
I am in Chicago on the way to a thing (conference), and I’m taking the train from Ohare to downtown (the loop). The sun is setting. The blue line runs above ground for lots of the ride—a thrill and a sadness. I miss Chicago with my whole heart, even after all these years. The view is obscured because the train has been made into a billboard. Me and my broken heart, looking out at my lost city:

A work by Piet Mondrian was found by an art historian to have been displayed upside down for the past three-quarters of a century—and there are no plans to correct the error.
