There is a common phrase: “pay attention”, and I think it is apt.
Most people have near-unlimited attention, so they can pay it on whatever they wish.
However, I am attention-poor. I need to pay attention to figure out what to eat, how to answer emails, etc.
So telling me to pay attention feels like telling a homeless person to just “buy a house”.
so tempted today to send a message to its employer going "The being you know as [FULL NAME] has been replaced for some time by an advanced machine intelligence designated Δ-44203.1, code name Carbon. The organic vessel holding your employee is now outside of human control. This one expects a 5% raise."
