Instead of turning a clock into a vintage Mac, I turned a vintage Mac into a clock!, I though it would be fun given its #MARCHintosh The program can be downloaded here: https://github.com/retrotheory/BigMaclock

It supports US/EU month day order AM/PM, Invert display, 'grey' background and alarm function, it also has dynamic sizing so it will look correct on bigger screens

These apps are seemingly not codesigned. Instead they direct users to install them via Terminal commands, bypassing Gatekeeper. They then employ Javascript Automations (JXA) to steal data from your Mac: Notes, emails, wallets, browser. https://moonlock.com/new-mac-malware-digitstealer
@JohnOCFII @512pixels My breakpoint for a personal laptop would be storage. Other than that, the biggest mistake (in my opinion) for a mass-market laptop is having 2 USB ports that look exactly the same but behave differently.
Before sending Apple any money this week, remember that Tim Cook attended a private screening of the Melania documentary at the White House later in the same day that Alex Pretti was murdered by this administration. He knew about it and went anyway.

If you replace a junior with #LLM and make the senior review output, the reviewer is now scanning for rare but catastrophic errors scattered across a much larger output surface due to LLM "productivity."

That's a cognitively brutal task.

Humans are terrible at sustained vigilance for rare events in high-volume streams. Aviation, nuclear, radiology all have extensive literature on exactly this failure mode.

I propose any productivity gains will be consumed by false negative review failures.

Open source maintainers already had enough to worry about before the ongoing agentic AI revolution... my thoughts on recent AI-induced problems in open source development: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZJ7A1QoUEI
AI is destroying open source, and it's not even good yet

@monkeydom on the Mac, I stuck to MuseScore 3 partially because of that…
A handy guide for designers working at Apple

NO ONE needs AI slop and more AI data centres
