the laptop i've had for years just suddenly died πŸ’»β˜ οΈ

no smoke, no loud noise, no bright flash

i can't afford to have it repaired either πŸ’Έ

to be honest, i just wanna post "it's my birthday" without worrying, but i know i should worry πŸ™€

#privacy enthusiasts, how do you deal with celebrating your birthday?
it's sensitive information of course, so do you just not share it? make up a 'fake' birthday per identity?

what's the solution? πŸ₯³β”

All soon-to-be abandonware should be open-sourced, I cannot overemphasize this. If you aren't using or selling your software anymore, just publish the source to GitHub or something. This is important for old videogames to be recoverable, extended beyond their lifespan, and archived.

BlockAds is a great FOSS android app (available on f-droid/Izzy)

it uses local filters to block ads, trackers + analytics, and more 🚱
i was surprised just how much stuff was being sent that BlockAds saved me from, even from some other FOSS apps πŸ™€

it's a must-install, i also reccomend setting it as an "always on" vpn in android settings too
