Three months ago I decided to take a leave from my work as a sysadmin and become a teacher. It's surreal the amount of time needed to prepare class materials (theory, exercises, presentations...) and grade the assignments.
But somehow I know it was the correct decision, as I felt stagnant and bored with my job.

So, #BSD users of the fediverse. Which flavor is currently running on your machines?

Boosts appreciated.

Not that I've ever been really "connected". I meant "not using it and reading the mailing lists"
Dear #OpenBSD developers: What have you been up to in the months I've been disconnected from the project? OpenBSD feels faster now on a x220 with full disk encryption than it felt last summer on a x395 (without disk encryption). What kind of magic have you been doing?
Said and done. Brand new #OpenBSD installation
It's been almost a year away from some of the things I enjoy the most. But tomorrow I'm installing again OpenBSD on my laptop and I'm starting to study again it's source code. It was about time

A new blog post from @pamela has appeared!

This time, she's talking about the basics of ssh keys and proxyjump.

Enjoy!

(Basic) SSH Keys Part 1: Simple setup + ProxyJump

After finishing reading Chapter 4 (Process Managing) of "The Design and Implementation of 4.4BSD Operating System" now I'm reading the actual OpenBSD code.
Trying to understand why the lock is released in uid_find (in sys/kern/kern_proc.c) while calling malloc to create a new uidinfo struct. It seems that uihashtable might change during the call to malloc (why?) so after acquiring the lock again traversing the list is necessary. I think I will continue and revisit it after reading kern_malloc.c
