Lifetime annotations with temporal scope: Rust may have popularized them, but are they coming soon TO A ROAD NEAR YOU‽ 😱

Google's heuristics recently seem to be in overdrive when I tether using the same data plan I've been using for years, to the point that I often have to spend *literally 40 seconds* on a captcha to do a no-AI search in Incognito.

Something feels off when big tech LLMs are allowed to slurp everything up but I get treated like a bot. 🙄

Need to update your custom folder icons for the macOS 26 Tahoe beta? I've got you covered!

Making some notes about the printing press, and it occurs to me that "Johnny Goodmount" would make an excellent cowboy name. 😆

With lead in his pocket and a bible at his side, he is committed to the the justified fight for the literary empowerment of all. Just the type you need to bring reform to your town.

I'm really glad to see this shipping, but I gotta say the way bullet 1 looks on my screen is *chef's kiss* and made my day much better . 🤣

PSA: If you opted out of Apple Intelligence on your devices, make sure to double-check your opt-out after every single OS update (including security updates).

I have opted out over half a dozen times, but, but Apple keeps forcing Apple Intelligence back on during OS updates and I have to go and manually turn it back off after the update every single time.

(If you don't turn it off, your device re-downloads gigabytes of models. Hope you're not on a metered connection!)

Apple enables Apple Intelligence against my wishes during every single software update · Issue #236 · lgarron/first-world

At first I though I was missing something. But I am now certain that: Apple Intelligence was forced on during the following OS updates. There was no opt out anywhere inside the onboarding flow. Opt...

I'm weirdly shocked that "Slave Labor Built V-Weapons" is still up on a government website (the national museum of the US Air Force).

So many people out there are acting like the guy who did a Nazi salute at the presidential podium isn't doing everything he can to create a future that lets him coerce undocumented immigrants and other "undesirables" to build his rockets and cars.

This toot brought to you by:

• Apple adding unnecessary AI features.
• Apple (apparently) silently breaking the keyboard shortcut I was using for "Text to Siri".
• Siri straight-up lying about how to change this config, because it is apparently trained on outdated information about itself.

Oh, and also Apple silently disabling "Hey Siri" on my phone, causing me to wonder if I had just gotten *really bad* at speaking things out loud.

Can't enable "Hold Option Space" for "Type to Siri" · Issue #233 · lgarron/first-world

As reported to Apple (and field on OpenRadar): For years I have set my "Type to Siri" shortcut to "Hold Option Space". This has stopped working. Could I ask how to enable this again? (Specifically,...

Google foisting Gemini on everyone is certainly garbage, but I gotta appreciate Gemini responding to "How do I disable Gemini?" by citing a support thread insulting it. 😆

Is it expected that the Rust compiler suddenly fails to compile code that used to compile?

I thought that's what editions were for? 🤔
