Talk about built-in obsolescence! Here's what happens when we try to set this digital camera to 2026...

Yes OK it is 20 years old...

Thought this was amusing, from an alumni mag. UK higher education is in crisis for various reasons, but at sufficiently fancy institutions, other concerns are on their mind... :)
A picked a buttercup on the way home from school yesterday (yes I know you aren't supposed to pick wild flowers these days; if he does it again we'll make him go to Wellbeing Club). Anyway it shrivelled up soon after we got home and I thought it was a goner - but, despite the top quality bottle cap vase, it opened again this morning! Impressive flowering.
We saw a Halloween circus show today, which was great fun (it's also on tomorrow, if you're in #MiltonKeynes) then had lunch at our local Turkish restaurant, now renamed to İzmir. (Which thanks to Wikipedia I now know is the third largest city in Turkey.) The meal was excellent as usual but it was nearly empty again... Hope they get more customers soon!
We ventured off the path in Howe Park Wood - ancient woodland but, you know, still in Milton Keynes so it's just across from a shopping centre - and by chance found this creepy face in a tree. I guess it's probably cursed...
Looks like I forgot to post these photos from a day out in #Berkhamsted, which has an extremely ruined #castle, during one of the heatwaves this year.

We went to more #MiltonKeynes International Festival events today. A play based on a children's book, performed in a theatre tent; and a massive inflatable 'luminarium' you could walk through (hereafter 'unbouncy castle') with bright primary-coloured panels allowing natural light. Both fun.
Went to see a few free events from the #MiltonKeynes International Festival today, including this from NoFit State Circus - performers built towers out of bamboo and then did acrobatics on them. Also there was a bit where somebody walked around with somebody standing on their shoulders who had somebody standing on their shoulders too, which seems excessive...
(If anyone is in the area, they are on tomorrow too.)

At the end of May we went on holiday to #Scheveningen in the #Netherlands where they use a variant of the metric system with that well known additional SI unit, sunglasses. (See pic.)

Aside from that I posted my holiday pics here: https://live.leafdigital.com/pics/scheveningen/

Sometimes you get the impression that a child might even have some similarity with their (cynical) parents...

'Are you in a bad mood now?'
'Yep.'
'Why?!'
'Because I have to read that good mood book.'
