Re: dlss5 I guess

(ref Scott McCloud, “Understanding Comics”)

also I’ve been walking around holding this thing like a keytar
I’m at a knitting conference, and Scott and I decided to use this as a forcing deadline to publish an alpha version of the printable modular flat-bed knitting machine that he has been working on. I made a lil zine about it too.

These were my first prong settings! (There is a lil epoxy there because I didn’t 100% trust my work but technically they wouldn’t need it.) I uhhh don’t recommend starting learning prongs with irregularly shaped fragile objects.

The structure is a little experimental, with an extra prong in the middle that seats into the air hole at the bottom of each glass piece.

Also I had to solder these at home with a butane kitchen torch. It’s not perfect but I’m proud that it worked at all.

We had to submit titles a month before I finished this piece so I wasn’t sure which piece I would actually contribute to this show and thus the label says “Untitled” but fwiw this piece is actually titled “Are they or aren’t they?”

The nudibranchs are hollow flameworked borosilicate glass and the main necklace is silver.

I’m at Symposium on Computational Fabrication and Jesse Nervous System (@nervous_jesse ) gave me a nudibranch puzzle!! Look at this beautiful wibby friend.
