Villa Carmine was constructed around 1875 by Caterina Rainoldi for her daughters Isabella and Luigia, on land inherited from her husband. The house remained the property of Isabella, who got married in 1875, and then passed it on to her daughter Amalia. Around 1922, it was sold to Carmela Carmine, who lived with her children between Lugano and Milan. It was purchased by the municipality of Lugano in 1989.
