Rotterdam in autumn colors today #Rotterdam #autumn #photography

Rotterdam's best kept secret (ha!) is the Left of the Dial festival. Three days of that stubborn breed: bands on a mission. This is the chance of a break-through for many. Very much enjoyed listening to EBBB, Van Houten, Cloud Café, Famous, Slate and many others. Friend told me that Findom was excellent too (sadly, I missed them). Some bands will never leave the bedroom, some others (Van Houten! Famous! Cloud Café!) are ready for showtime.

I saw the magnificent #Laibach live in Dordrecht for the Opus Dei revisited tour. I've seen them many times before but this concert was probably the best I ever saw. Close to three hours of intense, piercing, moving and jubilant music. Absolutely unique. Go catch them live somewhere in Europe https://www.laibach.org/future-events/

Really not that keen on getting ads in my ProtonVPN app. One of the many reasons why I'm glad to pay Proton is because I want an internet without ads (as much as possible, that is).

To be clear, Proton is excellent. Just get rid of the ads, thanks :)

This weekend, I had the opportunity to clear out the library of a gentleman who (unfortunately) passed away. He was editor of a large publishing house. Judging by the notes he left behind, he had read almost everything. We are talking about more than a thousand books. Almost every book also had a handwritten review inside. This note says "unreadable crap, can't stand to finish it". That was very helpful in deciding whether to keep it or not! 😀 #bookstodon #books

You know the gig is great if even the folks in the merchant booth start headbanging. Rivers Ablaze + Sear Bliss touring for the new 'Heavenly Down' album in Barendrecht last night. It was really wonderful, so very tight.

As an aside, I can't believe that it has been thirty years since 'Phantoms' came out. Metal keeps us young, as András said last night.

Robin @rac and I had a field day (literally) during the #Rotterdam open workshops / atelier weekend. We visited many ateliers for our research on #urban temporary use, among others the former RET bus depot and a set of abandoned offices hidden above the Lijnbaan mall. Among the many observations: different uses require different types of contracts; social networks are pivotal in getting such initiatives up and running. More to come later.
Another place visited during open monuments day in #Rotterdam was the so-called 'bouwcentrum', once the birthplace of my current employer IHS. The bouwcentrum was established as the central node in the post-war reconstruction of Rotterdam. It is a gorgeous building that favors form over function. IHS was born here, but moved to the university's campus some 20-odd years ago. The bouwcentrum is now in use as the head quarters of a sustainable energy company.
