Crimson Eclipse Over Deadvlei – Runner-up in the Creative (Advanced) category at the Toronto Camera Club.
Taken in Deadvlei, Namibia, after hiking over windy dunes and waiting for the crowds to clear. I added my own moon and shifted the tones to a Mars-like crimson.

Had an amazing summer and fall. I met photographers from around the world: Germany, Belgium, England, Scotland, India, Australia, China, Switzerland, Finland, The Netherlands, France and the US. Only a few Canadians.
We shared some unique moments in the field, had close encounters with wildlife (unintended), we walked a lot, sometimes in heavy rain but always in good spirit. We shared some good laughs. Good people, I'm glad I met.
Hoping for a busy winter.

Did you know that there is a subspecies of black bear endemic to Vancouver Island? Their Latin name is Ursus americanus vancouveri.

Happy to share my image “Twilight at Jetty 1905” which just won top award for pictorial competition (advanced division) at the Toronto Camera Club.
Taken in Swakopmund, Namibia, after dinner with fellow travelers at a seaside restaurant called Jetty 1905. The blue hour light and gentle waves beside the jetty created a serene scene just before nightfall.
This photo is from my archives but we have seen a lot of mushrooms of all sizes, shapes and colours during my tour this weekend. A good sign that fall is here!

I had set up to capture a Milky Way time-lapse during my camping trip, but the stars never appeared. Instead, the sky erupted in dancing colors. I quickly switched my setup — and one frame from that night became this image of the Northern Lights.
