The public WiFi one is good to know, I had been feeling a little uneasy all year when I started working from the library!
The #Trump administration continues to make us all less safe, this time regarding #CyberSecurity. This is wild to let this funding lapse. I assume it's #DOGE related, but if not it's simple incompetence to let funding lapse.
I'm not even a security expert but I know this is an incredibly valued resource for keeping all our technology safe.
Call your #Congress reps. Get them caring about this and holding the #ExecutiveBranch responsible for this nonsense

Today's moment of stupidity was a good one.
I'm playing correspondence chess on @lichess.
I have an _overwhelming_ advantage and the other player offers an unsportsmanlike draw. I reject that because I'm not an idiot (yet), and play my next move.
I complain to my partner that this player offered a draw when I was dominating. People do this all the time. It's annoying and dumb.
So I pull up the analysis board to show her just how much I'm winning... And then I lose the game for cheating.

We had to take down our bird feeder because our building is getting power washed today, and it breaks my heart seeing all the birds come by for brunch and not finding their normal pile of seeds!
Look, I'm no fan of #JavaScript even though I earn my livelihood from writing it, but #Oracle is just being ridiculous trying to hold onto their trademark.
Oracle filed a motion to dismiss in response to Deno’s petition to cancel its “JavaScript” trademark. But instead of addressing the real issue—that JavaScript is an open standard with multiple independent implementations—Oracle is trying to stall the process and sidestep accountability.
This puts my job in jeopardy, since I'm at a non-profit and most of our funding is from federal grants.
It's extremely stressful, but if the worst happens I can always move in with family while I job hunt or try to build my own company. But so many people won't have the same family and friend connections I do...
Week 2 and and #Trump is already blowing things up. This is going to be a very long four years.
