So I released MidnightBSD 4.0.4 with the new aged(8) and agectl(8)
I recently compared 3 different GPUs with the same Microsoft PHI 4 LLM.
AMD Instinct MI 25 ~ 3 to 5 tokens per second
AMD 9060XT ~ 29-31 tokens per second
NVIDIA 5070 ~ 29 to 34.5 tokens per second
I created a new daemon in MidnightBSD called aged that managed the age verification data to comply with the California law. We do not yet have a fully compliant solution since additional hooks are needed. This is just the first step.
aged(8) does not comply with Brazil’s law since that requires ID checks. I’m not planning to support that.
The daemon uses a SQLite 3 database for storage and can support age or date of birth. It uses an agectl command to check age for users or to set it as root.
I also uploaded a new release this weekend that fixes a few security issues (4.0.3). It does not contains the new daemon.
I've made the difficult decision to limit use of MidnightBSD for desktop use in the state of California effective January 1, 2027.
This is due to https://legiscan.com/CA/text/AB1043/id/3269704
It seems to me when you're looking for work in FOSS on here, perhaps your flippant replyguy attitude to a post about values and codes of conduct may not go down well.
But you know that's just me. 🤷♀️
Our humanity and ethics still matter. Especially in FOSS.
The general counsel of Paragon, uploaded a picture on Linkedin today showing the Paragon' Graphite spyware control panel.
The panel shows a phone number in Czechia, Apps, Accounts, media on the phone, the interception status and numbers extracted from various apps.
This is a demo instance it was given during some kind of kids day. After I posted this on other social media, she deleted the post.
