@stux here in Australia we did in fact learn about ww1, ww2, the various russian leaders and movements and other influences of the time. I am old enough to have watched Neil Armstrong walk on the moon.

I think it's more important to note that we were taught critical thinking.
Something that seems to be lacking these days.

Fascism didn't suddenly become popular. It's not popular. Except with the bottom 15%-25% of shitheads who would vote for anyone that promises to hurt their perceived enemies.

What has happened is that liberalism has failed. It has been a planned failure, happening in stages for the past 40 years, at least, wherein institutions and the very concept of liberal democracy have been hollowed out to make room for the cancerous wealth of white billionaires, fascism's most ardent supporters.

@nixCraft after Basic Pascal was a real thing for me. In year8 I managed to check the code of Wizardry and 'amend' it to the joy of the teacher in 1982. We had characters gain levels a little to fast. But it got me hooked

Interesting.

Are we still being held back by our expectations of current tech? Can we progress faster if we dump past standards and limitations?

Thinking of new ways to an outcome is not always written in the past.

Our expectations hold is back.

What a mess

Meta will allow political ads that claim the 2020 election was stolen.

YouTube will no longer remove videos making similar claims.

Monetizing lies has become a big business in America. It’s one of the core challenges to democracy.
