Web Push notifications for web apps on iOS is (finally™️) coming, this is a huge improvement because “you do not need to be a member of the Apple Developer Program to use it.”

Today I'm proud to announce the release of Homebrew 4.0.0.

The most significant change since 3.6.0 enables significantly faster Homebrew-maintained tap updates by migrating from Git-cloned taps to JSON downloads. In short, this means `brew update` and auto-updates will be much faster.

Also, if you read to the end you get to see me in a stupid beer outfit the other maintainers made me wear.

Check it out:

I don’t know what other folks (@gruber @marcoarment) were doing, but I had no problem getting my new #MacBook Pro M2 hot and the fans spin up: taxing it with automated browser tests spinning up Chromium instances with https://playwright.dev does the “job” just fine 😜

Hi Fediverse, I’m Philippa!

I’m a UI Designer working at https://nextjournal.com a research-y collective made up of many wonderful people (not many who have migrated to Mastodon yet but please make sure to follow @jack and @kommen).

We mostly make Nextjournal, the product, and https://clerk.vision, a Moldable #LiveProgramming environment for #Clojure.

I’m very much into #gardening and #cooking and I’m also a mom of two and step mom of two more – yay #Patchwork! :)

I love #Transmission as a nice piece of software, but I can’t think of anything I would use it — and #Bittorrent in general — today. Back in the day I mainly used it for downloading and seeding Linux distros, which in a world of fast, cheap CDNs does’t strike me as necessary any more?

What do people use it for?

OMG.

1. Google has some bad summarization telling people that throwing batteries into the ocean is good.
2. News articles were written about this.
3. Bing's summarization interprets these articles as advice to ... throw batteries in the ocean!

🤦

(To clarify: this is classic Bing, not ChatGPT Bing.)

(Also note not everyone gets this result. Other queries that might work: "is throwing a battery in the ocean beneficial", "is throwing a battery in the ocean useful" without quotes)
