Kijk eens naar de ROI op AI, met name de LLM’s waar die enorme groei op gebaseerd is. Die is er niet. Geen van de bedrijven maakt winst, behalve de chipmakers. Sterker: voor winst is met de huidige hoeveelheid geïnvesteerd geld een economisch wonder nodig. Trap niet in het boosternarratief.
📚 My book review of Concrete Hell: Urban Warfare From Stalingrad to Iraq
Two chapters are relevant, but incredibly thin on theory. The rest is a fairly well written overview of a number of urban operations scenarios, clearly chosen to stress the authors' point, whatever it may be. The whole thing has a sizable US slant. So yes. We have more cities, so wars might happen in places that require fighting in urban terrain. Also, water is wet.

Last year both the French and Swiss courts drew an admission from Microsoft on US govt access to data held on infrastructure owned by US companies anywhere in the world, and the fact that those companies are not obliged to tell their clients about it.

Sadly disappointing. Authors spend a lot of time vaguely skimming over the changing patterns of war and then vaguely make a point of that we don't know what the next war is going to be. Sad. Avoid.

Was told to stick to writing code by hand for side projects. So, I guess I am looking for a new job now. If anybody has use for a full stack PHP developer with a strong focus on frontend, let yourself be known. I have over 20 years experience in architecting and developing high traffic websites and platforms. Location: western part of the Netherlands (Randstad).
