There should be a word that is for the simultaneous embarrassment and helplessness you feel when you see a friend making duck lips for a photo but have no path to politely convey how stupid they are making themselves look.

A student spoke up in class today to tell me thank you for teaching some code in web publishing class. It made my day. Maybe my quarter.

This painting spoke to me. I love its colors and composition, but even more I love its distance and its tale. Just a few days ago we drove past an orchard being taken out and I marveled at the sheer amount of work it takes to dismantle and remove that many trees. It’s obviously sad to see such a painful moment as the trees are torn asunder, but it’s also a glimpse into the harsh but informed still waters of a farmer’s psyche. Paired with juxtaposed structures it tells me of our human struggle.
