As I read the details about this, finding so many layers... to anyone criticizing this as a publicity stunt: of fucking course it is. No that tiny vessel is not meant to bring in a meaningful amount of aid; it is meant to bring more visibility to the genocide Israel is committing. And I'm thrilled this 22 year climate justice legend understands proper solidarity and the intersections of injustice.

The fragility of fascism is wild to me. Instead of letting the people on this boat do their thing, distribute some supplies and do some media, the ghouls in Israel's government (in spite of any strategic considerations) are proving the entire fucking point. That their blockade of humanitarian aid has clearly nothing to do with security considerations and everything to do with enforcing a regime of extermination.
The absurdity of this... "Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said he instructed the Israel Defense Forces to show the flotilla volunteers a video of the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks, accusing the activists, without providing evidence, of antisemitism and of supporting Hamas."
Even Israelis cosigning their government's atrocities know this pretense is beyond preposterous. It's cartoonishly unserious.
But this is the crux: the threat of Thunberg and her comrades is not the bit of food and fresh water they bring; it is the cameras. Why are occupation forces executing journalists en masse? Why are they cutting off all access to electricity and the flow of people in and out of Gaza? They just want to starve Palestinians in silence. They want to raze every bit of homeland before the ICJ rules and international pressure gets serious about any consequences. Absolute power looks ridiculous when it involves kidnapping a vessel of peace activists but the alternative for Israel's political apparatus is worse: more livestreaming of the indefensible.
But either way, that little boat full of solidarity accomplished its purpose; the world is watching. And there will be a reckoning.
