In a fantastic collaboration with the group of @MT_Gabr, we have contributed to the discovery of a submicromolar agonist of TREM2, a new-generation Alzheimer's disease target. Read more in @ACSMedChemLett: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsmedchemlett.5c00542
Lysine targeting covalent fragments finds shallow, polar, cryptic and allosteric sites that are difficult to access with conventional approaches! See our strategy published in @angew_chem with Christoph Rademachers's group at @univienna http://bit.ly/3XPGZUa!

Our post-doctoral colleague, László Petri, was interviewed on the occasion of successfully securing an NRDIO (HU) grant for covalent drug discovery. You can read the interview in Hungarian at: https://hun-ren.hu/tudomanyos_hirek/hun-ren-ttk-gyogyszerkutatas-petri-laszlo-109757
Petri László kutatása új utakat nyithat a célzott daganatellenes terápiákban

A kovalens gyógyszerek kutatása ma a gyógyszerkémia egyik leggyorsabban fejlődő ágazata. Petri László, a HUN-REN Természettudományi Kutatóközpont fiatal kutatója ezen a területen dolgozik. Célja, hogy a természet gyógyhatású molekuláinak szerkezeti mintázataiból merítve alakítson ki célzott hatásmechanizmusú vegyületeket. A Nemzeti Kutatási Kiválósági Program (NKKP) STARTING támogatásával induló projektje új lehetőségeket nyithat a daganatos betegségek célzott kezelésében és a gyógyszerkémia megújításában.

In collaboration with the group of @cgaldeano82, we have expanded the chemical space of E3 ligase binders by discovering new allosteric modulators of FBW7. Read the full article at https://doi.org/10.1002/advs.202506068
Let’s check the latest paper on covalent ligand efficiency from our group that extends the LE formalism to cysteine-targeting covalent ligands! Read the full article online: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.drudis.2025.104454
Our paper on allosteric, covalent STAT inhibitors was highlighted in the "Recent article highlights" of @ACSMedChemLett. https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsmedchemlett.4c00622
We are happy to welcome Tamás Dobai from the Institute of Parasitology in České Budějovice, Czechia, who will be working with us for the next months on the computational modeling of parasitic enzymes.
Rounding off an incredible streak, Levente Kollár is our third junior colleague to successfully defend his PhD thesis in the past two weeks, with full points from the on-site committee! Congratulations to all three of you, we’re super-proud! 👏
We congratulate our colleague, Dénes Szepesi Kovács, for his successful PhD defense! (Overwhelming support from the on-site Doctoral Committee, final decision by the Univ. Doctoral Board later this year.) 👏
